Awareness is all there is Print E-mail
Written by Svante Odmark

Are you aware?

Awareness is all there is.

A table is awareness, a tree is awareness, a body is awareness. A thought is awareness, a sound is awareness, an emotion is awareness. A bird is awareness, a hamburger is awareness, a kiss is awareness. Philosophy is awareness, birth is awareness, death is awareness, life is awareness, experience is awareness, joy is awareness, anger is awareness, boredom is awareness, spiritual searching is awareness, spiritual finding is awareness, this sentence is awareness, and you are awareness.

Are you aware?

The answer to that question is awareness. The idea that you are aware is awareness. The idea that you are not aware is awareness. The idea that you are aware of certain things and not of other things is awareness. The idea that you are (or I am, or anything is), is awareness.

The answer to any- and everything is awareness, and any and every question is awareness too.

The idea that you (or I) are awake or self-realized is awareness. The idea that you (or I) are not awake or self-realized is awareness. The idea that the world needs to be saved is awareness. The idea that it doesn't is awareness. The idea that there is a world is awareness. The idea that there isn't is awareness. Even the idea that there is no awareness is awareness.

I am awareness. You are awareness. We are all awareness. This is awareness.

The word "awareness" is awareness. Every other word is awareness too.

The idea that the word "awareness" is not awareness but only pointing to awareness is awareness too. The idea that the word "Tao" is not Tao but only pointing to Tao, likewise is awareness.

The word "awareness" could be replaced by "God", "bumblebee", "vacuum cleaner", "Love", "hippopotamus", or ANY other word, and it would still remain awareness. For the word "awareness" has ABSOLUTELY no particular quality that sets it apart from any other word. EVERY word is awareness.[I personally like the word "love", by the way. "Love is all there is"; don't you agree that it feels empowering to feel the truth of that sentence?]

The act of communicating through language is awareness. The feeling of understanding is awareness, and the feeling of not understanding as well.

Any and every human activity is awareness, including reading this blog, and pondering what the meaning of one's life is, or whether such a meaning does even exist.

So what is awareness then? Do you perhaps expect an answer? Well, I'll tell you what awareness is: Awareness is simply a way to say what this is. And by "this" I mean to say awareness - which is all there is.

By the way, those ideas of "how it will be when I achieve a true non-dual awakening", and the ideas of "the ways I can prove to myself that I'm not yet really awake", as well as the ones about "how life will be when I finally have faced ALL my unconscious stuff and fully embody the truth that we're all one, and everything is love", guess what those ideas are...

They are awareness.
