Who is it that is identifying with thought? I bet you will not be able to find a who that is identifying with thought. So if there is no who doing that, then there is no you. And if you are not identifying with thought and awareness most certainly is not because all awareness knows how to do is be conscious, then what is identifying with thought?
well, thought is being identified with. and it's up to 'awareness' to stop and there is no how.
great. right where i stated, separate and suffering.
Thought is being identified by whom or what? Awareness cannot identify with anything because all it ever does is be aware. Awareness doesn't think, awareness don't fixate, awareness doesn't focus, awareness doesn't have any attention, awareness doesn't do anything except be aware. Awareness can't stop anything because it doesn't start anything. It's only ability or function is to be aware. Being aware is all it knows how to be. There are no other qualities to it.
So if it is not awareness that is identifying with thought, then what? If you can't find a who or what that thought is identifying with then thought is not identifying at all.
'if "awareness doesn't do anything except be aware" then what's creating all this?'
Ones who have no more questions, it's not because they have all the answers. It's seeing that all questions point to awareness and awareness answers nothing because it can only be aware. The questions arise in awareness, awareness witnesses it, then it fades back into awareness. Yet awareness just witnesses it, it doesn't cause it to happen or do anything about it.
Awareness is everything because nothing can be separate from it. When a thought arises, that thought cannot be separated from the awareness that sees it, therefore the thought is the awareness itself. Awareness is not everything because it is doing everything (in fact it is doing nothing, there is no doer anywhere), it is everything because nothing can be separated from it.
How is all this doing getting done, when there is no doer? That's just one of the infinite paradoxes that the mind will never understand. What is being pointed to is everything as it but does nothing except witness. Since it is everything, it is every paradox equally as it.
It's a mystery. The only way there can be a doer, is if something is separate. The mind of thoughts thinks it is the thinker, chooser, controller, doer because it is conditioned to belief/assume that it is separate.
All pointing is about pointing to this awareness (or whatever word/name/label/thought) but there is nothing to know about that awareness because it is indescribable and cannot be understood. There is no knower there to know anything about it, just thoughts there. Every question is a conditioned response caused by the conditional mind, so any answer will arise out of the same conditioned place. Awareness has nothing to say about it (itself) because it only has the ability to be aware. It's unidentifiable and anything that can be said about it is just stories of condition.
When a question arises here, it doesn't need answered because the question is not my question. The question itself points to the awareness that witnesses it and awareness is silent because awareness didn't cause the question. Awareness just witnesses the question and witnesses the question as it because the question cannot be separate from the awareness that sees it.
Do you see what pointing is ever about? All I am ever pointing to, is awareness. Yet there is nothing to know or understand about this awareness because it is indescribable and unknowable on a mind of thought level. I am always pointing you to the awareness that you are and out of any assumptions/beliefs that the thought created self might have about that awareness.
Every question is an assumption that an answer can be known. My answers don't answer anything, they just point right back to the awareness that witnesses everything. Then you give me an assumption about that awareness (that arose from conditioning based on the pointing) and I point you out of that assumption and back into the awareness that has no questions or answers. It only ever witnesses, like a camera constantly on yet has nothing to say about what it is seeing (filming). Totally silent, it only films, films everything equally no matter where it is pointed.
It's that simple. There is nothing to understand because it includes everything and when everything is allowed then there are infinite paradoxes to the mind of thoughts. What notices the paradoxes? The questions begin and end in the silence of awareness that notices.
There is nothing wrong with the questions or assumptions, because eventually the mind of thoughts sees that all the assumptions/beliefs were never understanding anything since there is nothing to know or understand about it. All it is ever doing is being aware. And now it is aware of this. Never going anywhere, always being aware.
So if you have more questions and assumptions/beliefs arising in awareness (Which is only aware of them arising and that's it), then go ahead and ask or state them. It helps one to see where the assumptions/beliefs are and to recognize the awareness that sees them. But the circle of this same process will happen over and over again. Pointing back to the awareness, that is silent. This is all any pointer is every doing.
Look closely at all clear pointers and you will see this same thing happening, that is all that is ever taking place. All the words are empty and silently pointing to the mystery of awareness where nothing is happening expect being aware of all the happenings. Being aware of everything, doing nothing.
That's why the seeker doesn't really want this because it ends the seeking without doing anything about it. The seeker wants something to do since that is how the seeker gets something out of it and stays seeking. The seeker doesn't want it to be that simple, since that ends it.
"How is all this doing getting done, when there is no doer? That's just one of the infinite paradoxes that the mind will never understand."
and awareness doesn't understand it either?
Nope because there is nothing there or anyone to know it. All awareness can do or be is aware. There is nothing else. It just sits there as a witness and observes the appearances, that's it. How can it know anything, even of itself? It only knows that it is. I AM.
"When a question arises here, it doesn't need answered because the question is not my question. The question itself points to the awareness that witnesses it and awareness is silent because awareness didn't cause the question. Awareness just witnesses the question and witnesses the question as it because the question cannot be separate from the awareness that sees it."
do you mean when you have a question or when someone asks you one?
When I have a question about the nature of reality, I don't see it as mine. It is just an appearance that shows itself to awareness and it dies back into awareness just as quick as it came. It doesn't need an answer. It still dies without an answer. It doesn't sit there repeating itself over and over because something else appears. And it might appear again as a memory/thought in the now, but it's not continuous or constant. That is true in everyone's experience because the answer is not what is being sought. What is being sought is the constancy of the always-present and never-changing awareness (or whatever label).
if awareness doesn't cause questions, what does?
Questions are in thoughts alone. The thoughts don't cause the questions though. There is no causer that causes anything. Nobody is doing it. It's just a bundle of conditioned thoughts unfolding. It's nothing.
aren't thoughts also awareness? it's all one 'thing' isn't it?
Yes thoughts are as equally awareness too, but only because awareness is aware of every thought and no thought can be separated from the awareness that see it. Not because thoughts are thought by awareness. Awareness doesn't do anything, especially think. Its only ability is to BE aware. No doing awareness. Thoughts don't do anything, thoughts only ability is to BE thinking. No doer, no separation, no thinker doing thoughts.
Thought + Awareness = thought being aware of. Awareness + Thought = awareness of thought. No matter how you pretend to slice it, everything always points back to awareness as it because nothing is separate from or independent to awareness. Thought + awareness = one movement. One not two. It might as well be called: awareought or oughtaware. There is no line or division. As a pointer one could say (and has been said) that awareness is the foundation and everything appears to apparently happen within that awareness, but really there is no foundation because 'everything' is that, with no line.
"The seeker wants something to do since that is how the seeker gets something out of it and stays seeking. The seeker doesn't want it to be that simple, since that ends it."
but the seeker doesn't and can't end it since there isn't one.
No there is no seeker, it's just thoughts.
